After having started a few days ago to receive a first part of the refund of their money, users of the defunct bitcoin exchange (BTC) Mt. Gox received a new message from the rehabilitation administrator requesting the refund of the money.
The petition of the legal representative of the bankrupt company is due to a duplication in payment. Something that, according to the administrator, happened due to "error in the system". Consequently, creditors are being asked to return the surplus, a fact that is generating complaints from the few Mt. Gox users who had begun to receive a portion of the investments they made in the platform.
As reported yesterday by CriptoNoticias, since December 21, users began to receive payments in fiat of the amount in bitcoins that was held on the cryptocurrency platform at the time it was blocked almost ten years ago.
However, the process — which was done through PayPal — raised a lot of questions due to the lack of detailed information about the payments that were being executed.
Many of the recipients said on Reddit that they did not know how to verify that the amounts they were refunded were correct. Added to this is the fact that, apparently, there were duplicate payments. Hence, a statement sent by mail from the administrator is requesting the refund of the money through the same payment platform.
The complaints were not long in coming. "After 10 years this...," one of the users commented on Reddit. His words were supported by many others with similar messages.
They were all irritated that this situation had arisen after the long wait to receive their money. Some believe the mistake was intentional and will serve as an excuse for further delays.
